The man comes and re-moves the metronome to the farthest corner of this 
muffled room. It is placed inside a box, beneath a pillow with the 
machine-sewn legend Memories of Brighton, but the drops do not fall off 
. . . then played into a microphone and amplifier so that each tick 
fills the room up like a shout, but the drops do not increase.

Any idea what these Memories of Brighton refer to?
