>From this edition of Thomas Pynchon's V. Winfried Waterberg copied the
following statement by Pynchon on the back of the book: When I wrote V., I
was thinking of the 1904 campaign (i.e. the Herero genocide) as a sort of
dress rehearsal (Generalprobe) for what later happened to the Jews in the
1930's and 1940's. Along with the the same author's Gravity's Rainbow this
book has been recently discovered in a bunker in Witten & then to be seen
in the exhibition HERZ UND HUND UND KUNST UND LEBEN at the Schauspielhaus
Bochum.
