Both sides seem to have gone in for a whole lot of identification politics -  with liberals it’s been more of a self-identification but with conservatives (or Trumpsters) it’s been an “other-identification.”   Let’s ban “others,”   Muslims from the country,  gays from being served,  blacks from voting rights -  the list goes on.  

And the “color-blind” stuff is bizarre because the only place that’s going to mean anything is in the counts -  how many blacks are registered to vote,  how many minority would-be renters were discriminated against, how many non-white loans were refused.   Then we’re simply not going to know how many workers were not hired because they simply “wouldn’t fit in with the company.”  That’s called “color blind.”  lol -  

Read “Give Us the Ballot” by Ari Behrman -  discusses “color blind” at length,  the people who support it,  the people it hurts.
