Remember the line "maybe the rent was just too high" in Slow Learner? Shows
me this
thematic perception/concept was on TRP's mind in 1984,
and from that I would say probably has always been
even though his published books to 1984 showed that openly
hardly at all, right?
Inherent Vice, and esp the embodiment in the trailer for it and
Bleeding Edge is where we get that straight, right?
And we discussed Progress & Poverty in relation to this some
time reading Against the Day, correct?
late PS. The intro on Slow Learner seems to me so straightforward, so
genuine, so believable in terms of the work (and little life facts we know)
of the man, I cannot see how some read IT as 'ironic myth--making' as
a virtual fiction about himself, full of self-satire and irony (as stated)
that,
like his fiction reveals little but ambiguity, little but his house of
mirrors re
his reality.
