More SLOW LEARNER: Entropy

The prose of Entropy is denser than in the earlier stories. Lots of
allusions, not digested, so to speak, as TRP said, musical ones, to Adams,
more.

Another wife who throws out her husband. Another whole sick crew "partying'
joylessly. Navy and school experiences one thinks.

Like Mercy & Mortality in Venice, the party is in DC. The nonpolitical
Pynchon--a 50s guy, P sez about himself---seems to have developed at least
this vision of government by now back then: cynical bureaucrats partying
meaninglessly. I might suggest the flip of an incipient belief in personal
Anti-Stateness---Live Free or Dieness. maybe?

Local group is the Duke di Angelis quartet. Incarnation/messenger means
Angelis...and their LP is Songs of Outer Space. ......
