Ray has five movies on the secondary list. The list of movies to see whose directors are not included on the list of the original ten people. Not having seen any of his stuff, I think the biggest possible leap for me will be going from having seen zero Ray movies to having seen one (so then maybe he and his whole oeuvre go on the 2017 list). Whereas with somebody like Allen, who has made probably a dozen movies I've seen and three dozen I haven't, getting a sense of the arc is more beneficial. Or a bigger leap from where I currently stand. Does that make sense? Plus Allen is useful on the list in relation to the other directors. For variety, digestability, etc.
