Here's an interpretation of this part of this scene that we might all weigh
in on.
Some commentator has said..Here we have a reversal of the usual cause and
effect re orgasm...thematically
related to Slothrop 'knowing' in advance where the bombs will fall....

it's all about sex.

'The very first touch'....."She told him later that as soon as he took her
wrist that night, she came."

next page "Roger's heart grows erect, and comes. That's really how it
feels."

Beyond my ken in earlier readings, in that I did not remember this so gave
it sorta poetic significance--a nice hyperreal statement of Love-- until I
got much older and esp when I read Against the Day and this happens to
Cyprian.

I was blown away and then again in retrospect and when I reread GR.

I should have and belatedly did think of N, O. Brown and his attempt to
argue for a 'polymorphous perversity' that left genital orgasms in the
dustbin of history.

Let's all stand naked for this scene.
