Thinking of which Pynchon works did Wood come up with this
application to Pynchon? Vineland, Lot 49?

Because, as Tracy straightforwardly observed re Pirate's supposed
'reality-based'--he's awoken from his dream and seen a real rocket's
entrails--banana breakfast, it, as described it is irreal, a heightened kind
of nod to real 'reality' so to speak, so maybe that breakfast prep might
be hysterical realism but then comes,

a giant adenoid and P's surrealism is in our face, like coke.

Pirate visits it every day for 2.5 years! Why?
