"Some definitions of the Holocaust include the additional five million
non-Jewish victims of Nazi mass murders, bringing the total to about 11
million. Killings took place throughout Nazi Germany and German-occupied
territories."
The source cited in support of this. on the Holocaust page in Wikipedia is:
Niewyk, Donald L. and Nicosia, Francis R. The Columbia Guide to the
Holocaust Columbia University Press, 2000, pp. 45–52.
By the expanded definition, the corpses pilled up next to crematoriums in
GR on pp 432-433, the victims alive or dead seen by Pokler, and the dying
woman he symbolically marries on this visit to Dora can be called Holocaust
victims, and also the homosexuals who have set up their alternate universe
inside the Dora camp, and the people tortured and killed in the insane Nazi
medical experiments - all of the victims of the Nazi extermination
programs. It's also possible that one or more of the corpses in that scene
in GR are Jewish, waiting to be burned in the crematorium, since many were
in fact sent to Mittelbau-Dora in the last years of the war.
