Thanks for this post about MKULTRA. I always find many opportunities in the
novel to jump out of the WWII time frame into the '50s, '60s, '70s.
Reading the novel the first time, in '73 while in the Army at the
Demilitarized Zone in Korea and living/working with many guys who had been
in Vietnam, it seemed the novel was at times pointing to the Vietnam War;
no examples to offer right this minute, but it's worth watching for.
