though a good number of Dylan's lyrics stand the test of being read and not
heard ('Shelter from the Storm' is hardly dead fish on the page) many
others benefit from hearing him sing it (e.g. 'Fourth Time Around' or 'One
of Us Must Know'--the way he phrases lines and emphasizes would be lost if
just read on the page; Lily Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts just isnt the
same when you just read the lyrics)
to put a positive spin on things, everyone even the deaf can appreciate
Dylan though not some of his best work
