I, too, think of Henry George a lot when I think of some aspects of Pynchon, not least Inherent Vice. There is the property development bit of plot and, remember the trailer Pynchon made for it....describing what has happened to Manhattan Beach as he drove around? 
If P can refer to " late capitalism" as he does, then the below is there as well, no?
