With such a name, why can't Pugnax detect a scent as he can "in other
humans"? If he is a noseworth? His nose is worth nothing; a whole nose
worth of him
is nothing, not real, not human.

The fact that he is a Master-At-Arms? If it weren't for Lindsay, the Chums
might be described
as a merry band of self-organizing never violent, in fact 'helping
"anarchists'--that theme announced in this chapter too. Helpers in the
sense that Mr. Rogers used to say, "Look for the Helpers in disasters"
and/or boddistavas in effect as we have discussed here earlier.

The Arms Master eliminates that; the Arms Master guarantees that our
'better angels" making us fully, non-violently human is not (in) him.
