The buzz on bees

Steely notes:
"Killer (African) bees probably won't make it much further than Texas, New
Mexico, and Arizona. Limited by climatological factors. Frankly, I'm glad
they chose Texan to invade. Couldn't think of a better place."

There was a 2-parter on African "killer" bees on NPR's Morning Edition last
week. Seems that the African bees and good ole US of A honeybees are *both*
being devastated by parasitic mites! And that's bad news for flowers and
stuff in general, whatever you think of those killer type bees.

The one promising note was that *Asian* bees are resistant to the mites and
not nearly as aggressive as the African counterparts. (Maybe, to paraphrase
Nayland Smith, they're just more insidious.)
