AtD translation: rough-ins overlapping faster and faster

The more I think on it, the more "ruff-in(s) might have a meaning similar
to fold-in, as the side drumming
picked up and 'overlapped", yes???

But speculation is not sometimes called pure for nothing.

PS, I have now thought to look up 'ruff' in my OED and cannot find
'ruff-in'. When I am next at the right library, I will look it up
in the supplemental volumes, which I do not have. Bate that breath, so to
speak.
