some of my favs. too many to remember. these i found in my old emails and
such. tried not to repeat

Cargo 200 (Balabanov sadly deceased)
Piano Teacher, White Ribbon or Cache (Haneke--hard to choose. guy makes
great films)
The Turin Horse (Tarr, parts made me weep)
'71 (Demange, Belfast during troubles. extraordinary)
Son of Saul (Nemes, a Holocaust film like no other, a masterpiece)
The Witch (Eggers, the ending, wow, beautifully shot)
4 (Khrzhanovsky, scene with old women at dinner. too many good scenes to
recount here)
My Joy (Loznytsia, one man's journey into hell--like a Ukranian Paul Bowles
story)
Evolution ( Hadzihalilovic, strange film island with secret inhabited by
women and young boys)
Borgman (Van Warmerdam, evil in the modern world, wonderful)
No Country for Old Men (Coens, faithful to the novel and one could argue
much better. perfect casting)
