Dear all,

I have to clarify something. Some time ago I responded to Mr. Peter
Hooper about AtD and he has since posted it to the list. I really should
have checked my notes given that my first response was dashed off to him. I
have since gone back to look at my dissertation and notes and have found
that I did not make that exact claim (about the confirmation name being
Christopher) in my doctoral thesis. My 'certainty' at the moment of writing
can only be attributed to confabulation. Mea culpa. Apologies to all.

I do still stand by my other arguments for Kit as the protagonist in AtD
that stands closest to Pynchon. My thesis does not hinge on the
confirmation name.

Respectfully,
Matthew C. Cissell
