I only ever read the Hobbit as a teen.  I'm not a fan of the movies. They
bore and exasperate me with their comic book stereotypes. And are much too
long.

But this movie is really good, no matter the reviews. I don't know its
veracity, but who cares. It is a strong and heartfelt story.
