AtD translation: the title

Mike, is there a term for "the day" in Chinese that is closer to "the
time" or "the era"? For me Against the Day's title conveys a strong
sense of working in opposition to the prevailing spirit of a culture,
or historical period, or hegemony.
In English this use is common in phrases such as "back in the day" or
"the olden days" or "in my day" which don't refer to a specific moment
but to a general (and generally nostalgic) timeframe.
