Remember when Rachel Owlglass practically fucks a car in V?
man/woman and the human vs the mechanical in that novel.
Car so loved; yet full of non-easeful death. (In 1965 the major cause
of death of those under 35 in the US was in car crashes.) So, loving cars
is to be half-in-love with death, eh?
Speaking of the mechanical and V, Marshall McLuhan's first non-lit crit
book was The Mechanical Bride, 1951, I learn from the book sale donations.
We know TRP read McLuhan (but we only know of Understanding Media fer sure,
right?)
What was V?
NP:
Richard Russo knows this artistically in his books set in those periods.
And there is
CRASH, the movie, decades later.
What else? Who else?
