His admission of being a CIA informant happens now? Why now? This feels
like a MOBY self-promotion play, true or not.  More fucking another
celebrity realist TV show: MOBY-CIA: MDA Unit

It's the CIA's job to seek covert information, which is fine, actually
needed and important, if done legally.

MOBY's self-promotion of his intelligence gathering (spying) role is what I
find shady.
