Why did Putin want Trump?

No revelations in this latest example of our imbecile president's dense
boobery.  For me the vexing question is his cult base:  Minds infected on a
Fox/Limbaugh loop of fear and hate, and how many of them exist in our
midsts.  And the associated rise of white supremacy to the main stage.  And
the total capitulation of the Republican Party to all forms of deceit and
fear-fantasy as tools of power.  They have proven their wish to kill our
democracy in favor of their autocracy.  The are bellowing it from the
rooftops!
