Thanks to everyone who sent me recommendations!

Your suggestions were all pretty spot-on.

Some of them, I'd read before. Some I'm iffy on based on previous
experiences reading the suggested author. Some I'm keeping on a list
for potential future checking out.

But so far, here are the three Pynchon-list suggestions that I will
most definitely be reading soon (as I have ordered all three from
Amazon tonight):

The Vorrh, by Brian Catling ~ It's the first of a trilogy that sounds
VERY much up my alley, from the description at the publisher's page.
Thanks Gary W!

Les Chants de Maldoror, by the Compte de Lautreamont (Isidore Ducasse)
~ A French language, illustrated version of this favorite of mine from
my first post-higher learning decade, spent delving into what I liked
to call the World of Aberrant Thought! And so, thanks to the P-list
(and Jan D!) I've found this year's French classic to read! I try to
read one contemporary and one classic tome in French every year, to
stave off the inevitable decay of whatever cerebro-linguistic bonds to
my beloved mother tongue may yet remain.

The Twenty Days of Turin, by Giorgio de Maria ~ A huge thanks to rich
for helping knock loose a memory I'd been unsuccessfully trying to
access for over a year... a memory about a book that I believe was
briefly mentioned on this very list a log time ago, that had touches
of Lovecraft and Borges, a title reminiscent of de Sade, and a cover
illustration featuring the altered work of Satanic Parisian "decadent"
Felicien Rops. Thanks to rich, it is now on its way to my hot little
hands!

So thanks to everyone who helped me out! If you have any other
recommendations, I'd still be happy to hear them.

And, finally, I usually post reviews of movies, books, and comics (not
very serious reviews at all... just short little things, with a few
impressions, basically to remind myself of what I've seen/read and
what I haven't) at my blog TheMediavore.blogspot.com. Occasionally I
take a crack at writing something smart on the rare occasion where
something smart crosses my transom, but please don't judge my efforts
too harshly!

Cheers and thanks!
yer old pal Jerky

PS ~ What do y'all figure the chances are that we'll be getting
another Pynchon novel? or hell, any Pynchon writing of any kind,
really? Personally, I wouldn't be too terribly surprised to find out
that he's written under a pseudonym at some point in his career, and
this news will come out when he... well, once we can be absolutely
certain that he isn't writing any "new stuff" anymore.
