Gerald Howard on Delillo's Nobel

I agree with that contrast between the unworthy galling winner and that
Wolfe of her time and for all time..
when I recently plunged into rereading and reading what I had not and did
some research........

I learned this: She was hardly ever even considered near to be being
worthy.....despite praise and I think the success
of *Mrs. Dalloway* and praise by the best for *To The Lighthouse, *which I
don't think was much of a sales success, her
reputation grew as slowly as Marvell's vegetable love.....hitting escape
velocity in the sixties.......
