Not commenting on others' assessments of VL.  Personally VL is my least
favorite Pynchon novel.  Its family drama never made sense to me,
especially Frenaisi's arc.  I really disliked VL's portrayal of Women being
(down below) weak-knee'd for male dominance.

I gave it a second shot during the last VLVL read, but more exposure to VL
didn't change my view.  It confirmed it.  At best, VL might be seen as a
primer on how Pynchon writes, if restricted in length.  I think Pynchon
likes symbols more than characters, and equations more than narrative.
Given space to wax poetic, he mesmerizes.  But the short version is clunky.

GR is my favorite.  But I also love MD.
