I will try to follow along and contribute. If there has been yet some clear
delineation of when the thing kicks off, as all as some semblance of a pace
or organization it aspires to follow, I haven?t seen it. Not that we need
those things.
A friend recently read it for the first time and said it should be required
reading for all California natives, of which he is one.
---- it's over for me after May 1st, and as to goals - suggest a procedure
& follow it yourself, see a suggestion & follow it where it seems to you to
lead, many smallish posts, many contributors (we contain multitudes of
knowledge and talent which it is always a pleasure to read,) grab a topic
already out there and share, or emit one (as certain people who seem to
live in verbose mode have been doing.) New norm for roundup comments
henceforth will be sentences under 20 words.

For an overall assessment of the novel, I recommend Frank Kermode's
negative review in the LRB and the first letter to the editor in reply
which is an essay all by itself:

---- Would you be willing to expound upon them?

I really disliked VL's portrayal of Women being
(down below) weak-knee'd for male dominance.
---- would you be willing to elaborate?

Very intriguing exchange, folks.
I'll be watching!
Now, to dig up my copy of Vineland...
---- or dredge some memories, or even make something up? The LISS/STEPVR is
nothing if not non-rigorous.
