Hampered in Kondo-cizing one’s possessions by not wanting to throw them out. Best $25 a year I spend.
Current pmla has great article on Ralph Ellison and Chester Himes, plus several compelling and readable takes on _No There There_ by Native American author Tommy Orange which imho was a pretty cookin book to begin with.
And if that weren’t enough, a tale (true) of how Alain Robbe-Grillet collaborated with grammarian Yvonne Lenard on a tutelary novel for American students of French, and it turned out to be a great success, one of his own favorites.
Makes me want to dig out a previous issue for the article I barely skimmed about the phase in Mark Twain’s late career when he speculated about the consciousness of stones et al. Earmarked it mentally and forgot till now. Great mag, someday maybe get to a convention and be the only person not angling for job?
