I don’t think it’s a typo -  I think Reed was making a statement about history being cyclical and the growing intolerance for Jews - again.  There’s the Knights Templar, the Egyptian link and other stuff -  I’ll have to keep a look out for this type of thing.  And this is supposedly coming from a Calvinist editorial circa 1920-22?  When anti-semitism was growing in Germany and the Southern States (and a lot of other places).
