Dear Thomas,
Please read with Occam's razor in your mind. I might see your statement
about this article as another small example of your self-blinded
projection, rife as Reef all over the lot to me.
I can also remember when you used to diss the Guardian's reporting (or was
that the other guy?).
The CIA is never mentioned in this story. When I last took my socks off to
count, the US had seventeen intelligence agencies. That's first.
This is the story about two witnesses, willing to go on legal record about
what they knew. The story is about taking spying measures (or not) against
Assange. And what the witness knew a fair amount of included the words of
Morales, who is the only source for
the statement you raise to the level of CIA fact. A mercenary spy full of
big talk (as well as some action, of course).
"The witness alleged Morales said these suggestions were under
consideration with his contacts in the US." Perhaps Morales brought this up
with his contacts, the guy so proud of 'going to the dark side"?
We learn not one thing about what those contacts considered.
Perhaps your known hatred of the CIA caused this lapse of perception?
You make the same kind of mistake the once-great reporter-hero of yours, Sy
Hersh has now been making for years, suggest all to whom he reports and to
those who investigate his work: single sourcing
from folks who get it wrong, wilfully or on purpose.
Thank you for this though. I needed subtle examples for my class on truth,
what we can know vs "fake news" and how to think to reality.
