By "reality", I assume you mean the reality in which two people touch a 
door handle that had been prepared with the deadliest nerve agent known 
to man on a quiet Sunday morning in a residential street in Salisbury by 
two professional assassins from a Russian secret service who did not 
wear protective clothing and were not being seen or filmed in the street 
or at the house, then drive to the centre of town, have lunch and feed 
some ducks, before three or four hours after having touched the door 
handle to which the deadliest nerve agent known to man had been applied 
they collapse simultaneously on a park bench, are discovered and receive 
emergency treatment from the Chief Nursing Officer of the British Army 
who accidentally comes along, and eventually and quite miraculously 
recover from being attacked with Novichok aka the deadliest nerve agent 
known to man with the most Russian name of all nerve agents known to man 
by two professional assassins from a Russian secret service who the 
night before had had noisy sex with a prostitute in a London hotel, had 
smoked weed all the time and even had spilled some Novichok aka the 
deadliest nerve agent known to man during their ménage à trois (but only 
just enough Novichok to be detectable once so that there was no need for 
the authorities to close the hotel or even inform the owner), and then 
disappear forever?

You are right, I am not in touch with that reality.

There is of course more, much more. I am particularly fond of this episode:

'During the discussion, Ms. Haspel, then deputy C.I.A. director, turned 
toward Mr. Trump. She outlined possible responses in a quiet but firm 
voice, then leaned forward and told the president that the “strong 
option” was to expel 60 diplomats.

To persuade Mr. Trump, according to people briefed on the conversation, 
officials including Ms. Haspel tried to demonstrate the dangers of using 
a nerve agent like Novichok in a populated area. Ms. Haspel showed 
pictures from other nerve agent attacks that showed their effects on people.

The British government had told Trump administration officials about 
early intelligence reports that said children were sickened and ducks 
were inadvertently killed by the sloppy work of the Russian operatives.'

The article had to be corrected:

"An earlier version of this article incorrectly described the photos 
that Gina Haspel showed to President Trump during a discussion about 
responding to the nerve agent attack in Britain on a former Russian 
intelligence officer. Ms. Haspel displayed pictures illustrating the 
consequences of nerve agent attacks, not images specific to the chemical 
attack in Britain. This correction was delayed because of the time 
needed for research."

But the NYT was still lying. It knew very well that Haspel could not 
have produced images of dead ducks and sickened children from Salisbury 
because there had not been any dead ducks and sickened children in 
Salisbury. From Wiki:

'In response Tracy Daszkiewicz, the director of public health for 
Wiltshire, said: "There were no other casualties other than those 
previously stated. No wildlife were impacted by the incident and no 
children were exposed to or became ill as a result of either incident".'

Either the Torture Queen was deceived by the British government which in 
turn may have been deceived by its own intelligence services, or she 
simply lied to Trump in order to escalate tensions between Russia and 
the US.

If it wasn't so dangerous, this would actually be quite entertaining.
