RIP Gilles Chamerois, Pynchon scholar

An excellent person, a fine scholar and a generous friend. Organised an 
unforgettable IPW in La Rochelle with Bénédicte Chorier-Fryd, they 
edited together a fine Pynchon essay collection and there is much more 
to tell.

Who else would have been able to deliver a fascinating talk about wall 
papers in M&D, or write a great article about the ampersand in M&D? 
Gilles did it, and he did it marvellously.

The Vancouver IPW next year, if it takes place, should honour him.

This is really sad news.
