I harbor a not-so-secret love for Armond White. A black, gay conservative who adores Zack Snyder movies and hates the MCU? He's so stunningly, fascinatingly contrarian, I find myself *compelled* to read his reviews. And being a conservative critic, he's one of the few remaining film reviewers who enjoys deflating Hollywood's self-righteous bubble—his reviews of dreck like "The Green Book" and "Promising Young Woman" are a welcome tonic.

I find it especially funny that the "National Review" sometimes runs TWO reviews of the same movie, usually Kyle Smith stepping in to redeem some wildly popular and enjoyable superhero movie from Armond White's cantankerous thrashing.

But again, he's nuts—don’t get me wrong here, I disagree with White 90% of the time—but I'm glad he's out there! And his dedication to international cinema is genuine, and he's turned me on to some pretty interesting things. But then again: he *loves* Zack Snyder.

Armond White is a buffoon, and he knows it. He'd probably confide to
