Reminds me of one of my nicer supervisors who used to tell us she couldn’t
do what we did…
Then one of the less nice ones got a promotion and brought everyone into a
meeting and, by way of goodbye, told us we were all lazy and that she, for
one, *could* do our jobs, and much better.
She probably just didn’t want us to miss her too much.
More topically, there’s probably also a point being made about
infrastructure; and the decline of some trappings of the aristocracy,
contrasted with the durability of some of its members.
