I know it was not an insult. But I, personally, do not think what you offer
is
the reason. Literary types in journalism are aware and love fiction with
against the grain 'theories'.
I've seen stuff on Susan Sontag's words about that
event; Denis Johnson's war contrasts. Others. Pynchon is so respected
even by those who don't read him--and shallowly respected for his paranoia
in his fiction---paranoia is what conspiracy theories ride on---that if
they saw
*Bleeding Edge* as a 9/11 novel it would have gotten mentioned, I suggest.
They don't. And, I will remind, Tom and Melanie controlled the way his work
was
presented by this time in his career. For whatever reason, no accent on
THAT anywhere
in the marketing of this novel, I daresay.
