i would expect it'll be about as hard to access the Pynchon papers as it is
to access any other writer's archives. Full access should be left to
serious students & scholars, biographers &c. and not be a tourist
attraction. (though of course there could be a curated display or even
better, digitized material accessible remotely, as there is with, say, T.
S. Eliot.)

as for why there's less, later, two theories:

1. they stopped editing him
2. he started to use email & a word processor
