The CIA and Nato and the US government have a long history of deceit, and way too much practice at starting wars. Believe them at your peril.
What will make the difference between war and peace is whether Ukraine, or the Ukrainian far right, stays out of the Donbass until there is a ceasefire, and an agreement to not bring in mercenaries or Nato, in other word what Putin and his negotiators and now France agrees is the sound basis for resolution, the Minsk accords. If the Donabss is invaded, defensive weapons will be ulikely to deter conflict. Russia is already set up for and receiving children being evacuated from the Donbass.
