AtD translation: the distant reach of water-sky reflecting the German Sea

The first question here is whether the dash '-' is a break or a 
connection, or both. It reads better as a break but could be referencing 
the reflection of the North Sea in the sky or the difficulty of telling 
where one ends and the other starts. But in reality you'd have to be 
miles north of Cambridge before that possibility kicked in, or the 
'smell of the fens' for that matter, Cambridge being on the southern 
edge of the old fenlands which have been drained in the vicinity of the 
city for centuries.
