Not P but yet another English question

I did watch a few videos and more or less understand how it works in
basketball. It's how it applies to this situation that eludes me, since in
basketball it seems to involve at least three people: two offensive players
and a defender. I'm not sure how the roles should be assigned here. Thanks
all the same.
