San Narciso. Does this relate to narcissus and narcissism? After All this is Pierce’s creation, his plinth, and considering his efforts from beyond death to bring her into his web again, this seems likely. He appears quite self-absorbed. There is a tow in the Philippines called San Narciso, but no saint that it is named after? There is a Saint Narcissus of Jerusalem, but I don’t see any relationship except to the Greek myth of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echo_and_Narcissus Narcissus & Echo]. This seems clearly alluded to when Oedipa pulls into “Echo Courts” motel, which has a painted sheet metal nymph holding a white blossom. Echo is a mountain nymph who Juno curses to be able to only repeat what others say. She falls in love with Narcissus, who rejects her. Her fellow nymphs put a curse on Narcissus, who falls in love with his own reflection. He dies staring at his reflection in a pool, as Echo repeats his final word, Farewell.
In solidarity,
James
