this excerpt from article (the new right utilizing the ideas of Antonio
Gramsci of all people) from the WSJ seemed somewhat relevant vis-a-vis
Shadow Ticket
'There are clear similarities between Gramsci’s political world and our
own. When he was writing in the 1920s and ‘30s, massive technological,
political and cultural changes were destabilizing governments all over the
world, leaving the global power balance in flux. “The old world is dying,
and the new world struggles to be born,” Gramsci wrote of his period, which
he called the “interregnum.'
Speaking of chameleons there's a new quite comprehensive biography of
fellow italian (half german admittedly) journalist and faction writer,
Curzio Malaparte (author of Kaputt and The Skin), who played both sides of
the fence and on the fence and under the fence and all around the fence in
the 20s-50s Europe. well-translated and also relevant to the strange times
we live in.
