There are three separate arcs here: 1st the arc of the helpless refugees, civilians as they drop down to the bowels of the city, escaping the bombing but carted and herded through tunnels and wreckage, loaded onto cattlecars and subways, watched by the important people through green bullet-proof glass. Then they rise up in elevators, only to be shuffled into waiting rooms and holding pens. With this, the second arc begins, this in opposite fashion. This is Pirate’s arc, on awakening, from his bed/nightmare, he arises heading up to the roof and the morning light (where the sun begins its arc across the sky). He sees another arc, the V-2’s arc of death. After gathering the sustenance of bananas, he returns/descends back to his kitchen, where life begins to stir. The 3rd arc (not counting the optical illusion arc of the sun’s movement) is the arc of the V-2 rocket from the Nederlands heading toward England. This arc finishes in a fantasy of Prentice that ends on the top of his head.
