"Leo Szilard jokingly suggested that Hungary was a front for aliens from Mars.
In an answer to the question of why there is no evidence of intelligent life beyond Earth
(called the Fermi paradox) despite its high probability of existence, Szilárd responded:
"They are already here among us – they just call themselves Hungarians." This account is
featured in György Marx's book The Voice of the Martians."
Szilard with Teller, Wigner, etc., as early as 1939, convinced Einstein to write the famous letter to
Roosevelt, who then ordered The Manhattan Project resulting in the development of the Atomic Bomb, out
of fear that Nazis would develop one first.
