intergalactic tutu day

the 5th annual intergalactic tutu day was quite a success. 23 people and one dalek attended our little party in minneapolis. i know many more were home sick or otherwise unable to make it out (and greatly missed!). and still more celebrated in other cities. feel free to add your photo celebrating tutu day to our flickr group.

thing 2 : tutu

february 2nd, as you all ought to know, is intergalactic tutu day. this year, we are celebrating the 5th annual tutu day. i decided a good thing to create today would be a new tutu. admittedly i have a good sized arsenal of tutus, but you can never have too many on tutu day. this tutu was by cutting 6 layers and gathering and sewing them to a stretchy band. not the simplest way, but good for a certain look. i also managed to make 3 other tutus today, with the no-sew method (not pictured).. which brings my total up to 14 if you count crenolines (which i do).

i then proceeded to celebrate intergalactic tutu day in style with 22 other amazing friends in tutus. i call it a successful holiday.

thing 1

i created this blog. it’s something i’ve been meaning to do for a long time. i figured the first day of thing-a-day makes the most sense, so i can post all my following things. the design may change, but at least i’ve got something to start with that i like for now. also, i suspect having a place i like to post will get me to take more photos, which is something i’ve been meaning to work on anyway.

i am starting thing-a-day. for the entire month of February, i will be creating at least one thing each day. this will be the third time i’ve participated in thing-a-day. i have a huge list of project ideas – some small, some ambitious. i know there are days it will be a challenge, but i work much better with goals and accountability.. even if that accountability is posting to an online forum where most people won’t ever know. though, figment has also agreed to do it, and the buddy system is always a good idea.
