Glad to see that V has such a following. Great book, one full of
unknowable (?) conspiracies. I read it first back in '66 as a senior
in high school. Quite the change from Silas Marner.
I'm about to read it again (3rd or 4th time ?) and since I'm off
to Norfolk, I'll check out the bar scene on East Main where the Sailor's
Grave might be. In a silly way, V reminds me of old Popeye cartoons. This
was nudged along when Robert Altman (?) filmed the POPEYE movie in/on
Malta.
On rec.arts.books someone posted something about books we'd like to see
written. I posted that a good one would be Pig Bodine on shore leave in
Rabat (or somesuch) falling into a Paul Bowles Sheltering Sky ouvre.
Guffaw! Snort!
The fleet's in!
