You have misrepresented me badly.  You have also offended me. No way 
around it.  

I hated it when Rush called us "feminazis," using, as he did, a most 
offensive naming technique with which to garner his forces against women 
who, for the most part, work against those darker systems of hatred, 
abuse, domination, etc.  It was a nasty rhetorical trick.  

I am equally offended when I come to this allegedly, to use your 
expression "fluid" realm wherein I'm supposed to feel how much "freedom " 
I have.  Oh all that crap about how cyberspace is so liberating, , blah,  
blah.  I've tried to be diplomatic all week.  But you cannot align me 
with Newt.  I won't be silent on that.  Think what you will.  I simply 
have to tell you how ugly and offensive it is.  You talk of all those 
"good" things you think Pynchon's all about--love, community, etc.  So 
where does that last post leave you?  

On VINELAND, you misread my post.  I was speaking of Hayles when I 
suggested this dichotomy--snitch/family (her words.)  I say (as you note 
in the beginning of your post--don't know why you changed your mind) that 
systems are levelled.  But you haven't read the paper nor are you polite 
enough to perhaps ask me in either a public or private voice where the 
argument goes from there.  I speak of television as the system.  REad the 
paper for details.  I dont' care to bother further.  

God, I rilly didn't want to adopt this tone. But you force it upon me.  
Who's oppressing whom?

I'm sitting here trying to find a graceful way out of this and it's not 
surfacing.

Oh, here it comes. . . in the form of.. . .yes, like I've been doing so 
often in the recent past. . . an apology.  I'm sorry to've come off in so 
aggressive a fashion.  I guess I'm speaking less to you as an individual 
and more to a system that suggests somebody
s got to be right in this thing, even if it means saying that no one 
should ever bother.  

I hope your article on The White Visitation is a huge success.
