Hey youse,

Nobody's mentioned an instance of authorial thumb-in-the-frame that I just
loved when I encountered it. Who remembers the scene in the French
Lieutenant's Woman, Chapter 55, when protagonist Charles shares a Victorian
train compartment with his creator, John Fowles, who's wondering what the
hell to do with him? Check it out. And now, back to lurking...

Best,
David

PS Attention must be paid to the man behind the curtain.
