If David Foster Wallace is not Thomas Pynchon, he sure refers to TP alot 
(for example the "teleputer" is constantly, the TP).  Beyond specifics, 
there are interesting stylistic resonances.  There is also a specific ref 
to a nightmarish "face in the floor," with eyebrows \/ that . . . 
DFW uses this symbol in the text.
