Pynchon/Lennon

Thinking of a parallel b/w Pynchon's view in Vineland as compared to
earlier-darker works and Lennon's career from his later-softer works
compared to Plastic Ono Band-Cold Turkey phase. Could Lennon write as
heavy stuff as he did on Plastic Ono Band before he died. Obviously not
and I think for the better. I loved POB for such a long time but can't
really listen to it with the same sense I had. Not sure close to death
in my later years I'm gonna want to pick up GR anymore. Watching the
Wheels replacing God? I guess so.

P.S. for Steelhead: Do you really like Sandanista? I thought the Clash
did that awfully boring, dull three LP album (maybe two or three
listenable songs IMHO) to get out of their record contract. I don't
think it even comes close to London Calling.

For anyone who cares...I've given up on Blood Meridian. Too much of one
thing, no variety. As one of my female acquanitances says "it's a dick
book" and I have to agree. I did find Dhalgren which sounds wonderful
and really strange--anything that T. Sturgeon likes I'll probably like.

Just muzing...later
