In a posting on May 25th, Marc writes :
Related question: does anyone know how widely translated Pynchon's books
are? I'm guessing their must be a fair few major-language translations,
but...?
rgds, marc.
I'm a French lurker on this list, I could repeat most of what other members
have written in recent or earlier posts on this thread or similar ones.
TRP's books have all been translated into French and the few pieces of criticism
I've read were fairly enthusiastic but people I know don't happen to have read any
of them and when they have it's because I prompted them into it.
About Vineland, it was the first of Pynchon's books I read,
I had bought it on the last day of a stay in the US to spend my last bunch of dollars.
Enjoyed it a lot, though not at once, had to start it two or three times before being able
to get on with it, mostly on account of discontinued reading. Anyway its spell works even
though (or because?) one didn't even know such a thing as GR existed and was born this
(the other) side of the Atlantic.
I would have enjoyed to share in the group reading of V. but will be away for six weeks as of July.
So, back to usual.
(Lurking) Joseph.
