If by nihilism you mean a rejection of traditional morality,
order, and authority, together with the feeling that no
basis exists on which a new order can be erected,
yes, Pynchon is a nihilist.

'course there's nothing unusual about this view in the
world today. It's simply the modern temperament.

It was foretold in Dostoevsky: If there is no God, then
all is permitted. ( Crime and P. or Brothers????)
